Raindrops and Snickerdoodles…

I am very happy to say that it is raining here. We have been in extreme drought conditions lately, so the forecast full of rain for the weekend looks good. There is just something about rain that is so soothing…… maybe the rythmic sounds of the raindrops hitting the ground? The softness of it dripping off the eaves? The tapping on the roof? Just the same, it is even better when enjoyed with a yummy cookie!

We made a few pans of snickerdoodles today. I love the scent that radiates through the house! It smells like sweet cinnamon, one of my favorite spices.

I love the coziness of our house. Everywhere I look I see something I love, and that to me makes our home comfy. I love being in my big family, listening to the soothing sound of raindrops, eating wonderful cookies, and enjoying the time spent together.

I need to go finish a few lingering chores!
Have a blessed and wonderful day!

Emma

Mrs. Wilt over at The Sparrow’s Nest is holding a Jane Austen fortnight.
Today’s book was Emma.

Emma is the newest Jane Austen book that I have read recently. I really enjoyed this one, and Emma’s personality is quite amusing…… She enjoys all things odd and can get quite jealous over friends and suitors both.

I would highly recommend this book, not just because of it being classic literature, but because of it being a wonderful story! I’m not going to say anything else, because I do not wish to ruin
it for you.

I can’t wait to read other readers reviews!
Happy Jane Austen Fortnight!

Monday Musings….

Today I am posting for my Mom, because she is taking care of the small fry…. 🙂

Despite my best intentions, I did not get around to posting our Sunday “Sewing Marathon” posting yesterday.

Here is what we worked on:

Emma's Dresses

We are almost finished with the light colored dresses, and if we get those finished today, we will make the dark colored ones as well.

All in all, a very accomplishing weekend! We made an ironing board cover, 4 aprons, 4 pincushions, lots and lots of coasters, and a very good start on Miss Emma’s dresses for the fall/winter.

We are quite pleased!!!!

It has been mostly sunny here for the last few weeks, although we were blessed with quite a bit of rain on Saturday evening. It has been so hot, the rain cooled everything down…..for an hour or two! 😉

Just A Day

Today’s Tasks
Work on Emma’s dresses
Continue to put Jon on sleeping schedule
School
Straighten House
Laundry
Etc.

Today I’m Learning
Jonathan loves sleeping as long as he is being held. The moment he gets put in his bed he starts to fuss……. perhaps he is rotten already? 🙂

Scripture Meditation

Proverbs 13

” A wise son heeds his father’s instruction,
but a mocker does not listen to rebuke.

From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things,
but the unfaithful have a craving for violence.

He who guards his lips guards his life,
but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.

The sluggard craves and gets nothing,
but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.

The righteous hate what is false,
but the wicked bring shame and disgrace.

Righteousness guards the man of integrity,
but wickedness overthrows the sinner.

One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing;
another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.

A man’s riches may ransom his life,
but a poor man hears no threat.

The light of the righteous shines brightly,
but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.

Pride only breeds quarrels,
but wisdom is found in those who take advice.

Dishonest money dwindles away,
but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.

He who scorns instruction will pay for it,
but he who respects a command is rewarded.

The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life,
turning a man from the snares of death.

Good understanding wins favor,
but the way of the unfaithful is hard. [a]

Every prudent man acts out of knowledge,
but a fool exposes his folly.

A wicked messenger falls into trouble,
but a trustworthy envoy brings healing.

He who ignores discipline comes to poverty and shame,
but whoever heeds correction is honored.

A longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul,
but fools detest turning from evil.

He who walks with the wise grows wise,
but a companion of fools suffers harm.

Misfortune pursues the sinner,
but prosperity is the reward of the righteous.

A good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children,
but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.

A poor man’s field may produce abundant food,
but injustice sweeps it away.

He who spares the rod hates his son,
but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.

The righteous eat to their hearts’ content,
but the stomach of the wicked goes hungry.”

Have a wonderful day!

Yet another day…

There is just nothing like a sweet little baby….. especially the one cooing and smiling at me right now! Jon is such a sweet heart….
it feels like it has been years since he has come! He fits right in. I am so happy to be the small guy’s older sis!

One of my friends, Flibby, who posts at Whiskers On Kittens, summed it up beautifully, at this posting, about her own new sweet little brother!! Be sure to stop by and take a peek!

We have settled in nicely with our school schedule this week. We have managed to get pretty much everything done for today…… yippee!

We have had record breaking highs of 101^ to 106^ this week…. did I ever mention how hot it gets here???? It has been good for the laundry….. but, my favorite season is most definitely not summer!!! It is in fact, the exact opposite!! Hot chocolate, warm blankets, and icy cold winds make up my favorite season. Can you guess what it is?????

You can watch for updates on the sidebars of my blog today! I am updating the reading list, changing the music, and a few more surprises up my sleeve as my “summer website cleaning” today.

I know I have posted this verse before, but it seems fitting!

Scripture Meditation

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

A Time for Everything
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

I probably should run!
Have a wonderful day!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog. I am 19 and the oldest of eleven children. I am learning how to run and care for a home, learning to be more like Jesus, and how to be a godly wife and mother. We love each other, and each day is a new adventure as we seek to glorify the Lord through all we do.
